30Performance analysis of Cr12 die steel
Cr12 die steel is one of the representative grades of high carbon and high chromium cold working die steel. C2.00% ~ 2.30% and cr11.00% ~ 13.00% with very high content (mass fraction) belong to ledeburite steel, so they have high hardenability, hardenability and wear resistance. The quenching deformation is small, but when the carbide is not uniform, the deformation is multidirectional and irregular, and its poor structure is its main disadvantage. It is difficult to improve the uneven carbide by heat treatment unless it is made by powder metallurgy. Cr12 die steel has poor impact toughness, thermal conductivity and high temperature plasticity, so attention should be paid to heating and forging process.
Cr12 die steel is also one of the common cold working die steels in the world. It is gradually replaced by more excellent steel grades such as Cr12MoV, Cr12Mo1V1 or base steel. Cr12 die steel was introduced from X12 of the former Soviet Union, and it has been included in the standard since 1957 (yb-1957).
The same type of steel grades abroad are 210cr12 (ISO), skd1 (JIS) of Japan, DC1 of Datong special steel, CRD of Hitachi metal, k100 of Austrian ferro company, sverer3 (uhB) of Sweden, etc.
Cr12 die steel is mainly used for cold die working parts (punch and die) with high wear resistance and small impact load, and the die of cold extrusion die, etc. due to its obvious advantages and disadvantages, the use of Cr12 die steel is limited.
