4Cr5MoSiV1 (equivalent to international grades like H13) is a high-performance hot work mold steel, but it can also be used in certain cold work mold applications. Its main characteristics as an alloy tool steel bar are as follows:
High Toughness and Strength: Contains alloying elements such as chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), silicon (Si), and vanadium (V), providing excellent toughness and compressive strength, suitable for high-stress conditions.
Excellent Wear Resistance: High hardness (typically reaching HRC 48-52 after heat treatment) and outstanding wear resistance, ideal for high-wear environments.
Good Thermal Stability: Maintains high hardness and strength at elevated temperatures with strong resistance to softening, suitable for hot work molds and certain cold work applications.
Thermal Fatigue Resistance: The addition of molybdenum and vanadium enhances its resistance to thermal fatigue, enabling it to withstand cracks caused by repeated thermal cycling.
Good Machinability: Despite its high hardness, it offers good machinability in the annealed state, facilitating the production of complex molds.
Corrosion Resistance: Chromium provides a degree of corrosion resistance, extending the service life of the mold.
Dimensional Stability: Minimal deformation after heat treatment, making it suitable for manufacturing high-precision molds.
Typical Applications: 4Cr5MoSiV1 is commonly used in hot forging molds, die-casting molds, and extrusion molds, as well as high-demand cold work molds, such as precision stamping or cold extrusion molds.
