Features of 20MnG Thick Wall Seamless Steel Tubes
Features of 20MnG Thick Wall Seamless Steel Tubes
High Strength and High Toughness
The chemical composition of 20MnG steel includes manganese (Mn) content ranging from 0.70% to 1.00%, carbon (C) content from 0.17% to 0.23%, and silicon (Si) content from 0.17% to 0.37%. This composition design endows the steel tubes with excellent mechanical properties:
Tensile Strength: ≥415 MPa
Yield Strength: ≥240 MPa
Elongation: ≥22%
These performance indicators demonstrate that 20MnG thick wall seamless steel tubes can withstand high-pressure, high-temperature, and complex stress environments, making them suitable for high-load applications such as boilers and heat exchangers.
Excellent High-Temperature Performance
20MnG steel belongs to the category of low-alloy high-strength steel, exhibiting significantly superior high-temperature creep rupture strength and oxidation resistance compared to ordinary carbon steel. Under high-temperature conditions (such as boiler operating temperatures), the steel tubes maintain structural stability, reduce creep deformation and oxidative corrosion, and extend service life.
Good Corrosion Resistance
By controlling sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P) contents (both ≤0.025%) and adding small amounts of chromium (Cr, ≤0.25%) and nickel (Ni, ≤0.25%), the corrosion resistance of 20MnG steel is enhanced. In environments containing water, steam, or mildly corrosive media, the steel tube surface is less prone to pitting corrosion, reducing the risk of leakage.
Uniform Wall Thickness and Structural Integrity
Thick wall seamless steel tubes are manufactured using hot-rolling or cold-rolling processes, offering superior wall thickness uniformity compared to welded tubes. The homogeneous microstructure of 20MnG steel (e.g., ferrite + pearlite) ensures burst resistance under high pressure and prevents local stress concentration caused by uneven wall thickness.
