P20 1.2311 Mold Steel

P20/1.2311 mold steel is widely used in China, the factory hardness HRC30~42, suitable for large and medium-sized precision molds, suitable for long-term production of high-quality plastic molds for large mold bases. This steel has good machinability and can be polished generally.

 

The earliest was P20, followed by P20H, and P20Ni came out one after another. P20 has high hardness, good toughness and strong tensile strength, but it is not resistant to corrosion and has poor wear resistance. Among them, 718H is obtained by heat treatment of materials before leaving the factory. Among them, 618 materials are the lowest of these three materials, which is equivalent to GS2311 material. The polishing performance is poor and the production life is below 100,000 times. The 718S and 718H materials have good polishing performance and can be used in transparent thermal polishing molds. The polishing performance of 718H is higher than 718S. The two materials have a production life of 300,000 times.

 

Heat treatment requirements: The entire P20, the material is pre-hardened before leaving the factory, it is no longer suitable for quenching. P20 material quenching is easy to burst, and only surface nitriding treatment can be carried out. The oxidation requirement is 0.1mm surface and hardness is 65~68HRC. Processing requirements: P20 material processing performance is general, when the minimum size of P20 material is more than 300mm, if there is a large number of wire cutting or EDM processing in the process, after online cutting or EDM machining, it must be done once Tempering.

 

P20/1.2311 mold steel application: P20 hot working die steel, is the introduction of American standard P20 medium carbon Cr-Mo plastic mold steel. Suitable for making plastic molds and die-casting low melting point metals. This steel has good machinability and mirror polishing properties.
